Candidate selection directly impacts business and employee performance. The methods used during the selection process need align with your strategic objectives; where you are, where you want to be and the processes that will be used to get there.

Analyzing your organizations strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) will align your recruitment strategies to your needs. Once you have identified your business strategy, you can then determine the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for your opening.

Organizations that use templates for this process will ultimately hire for the wrong reasons. The link between your human resource planning process (HRP) and organizational strategy should determine who receives a job offer. The identification of the key KSA’s will ensure your selection process meets business goals.

Once required skills have been identified, the recruitment process can begin. Although this process may be more time consuming than generic job templates, it will increases the success of your recruitment efforts and increase the return on investment per hire.

Utilizing this process each opening increases the success of you recruitment efforts. By identifying business needs, you will land the right candidate in the right opening no matter how they were identified.
